New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson left Sunday’s 54-13 loss to the New England Patriots after sustaining a knee injury in the second quarter.
Wilson was hit by Patriots outside linebacker Matthew Judon after a pass attempt and remained on the ground before being helped off by trainers and undergoing evaluation in the medical tent.
He was initially listed as questionable to return but later ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The rookie was replaced by Mike White, a fourth-year veteran who had never attempted an NFL pass. On his first attempt after coming in for Wilson, White completed a 3-yard touchdown to Jets wide receiver Corey Davis.
White finished with 202 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions on 20-of-32 passing.
Wilson, the No. 2 overall selection in this year’s NFL draft out of BYU, completed 6 of 10 passes for 51 yards before exiting the contest.
